FAQ

1.  I don't have a computer. Can I still participate in an education session?

Yes. The education session can easily take place via telephone conversation instead of using a computer for videoconferencing. The education session does not involve any video or graphics that require a computer.

2.  Is this service considered "telehealth"?

No.  Although telehealth has become widespread, there are state specific regulations which govern the provision of healthcare services over the Internet. Education services alone are being provided and a physician-patient relationship is not established, therefore, this activity would not be considered "telehealth".

3.  What if some of the information that you provide conflicts with advice given by the treating physician?

Dr. Young is providing medication education sessions based on the information given by the client or caregiver. The physician who has examined the client during a face-to-face visit will always have much greater knowledge about the case. Therefore, his or her clinical judgment will always take precedence.

4.  Are you available to become my physician after the session?

No. That will not be possible for the reason mentioned in #2 above.

5.  How do you keep the medical information secure?

The initial registration form does not contain any protected health information. When you schedule the online session you will receive an encrypted e-mail from Medication Knowledge for Safety which contains a form that will ask for the client's medications, medical conditions and medication allergies/adverse reactions. The form is automatically encrypted upon return so that the information remains secure.

6.  I've never tried videoconferencing, can I still participate?

Yes. We use a video conferencing application called Zoom, and if your computer has a camera you will receive an e-mail with the connection instructions.  Again, there is no requirement for a computer to complete the session. If you don't have much computer knowledge the session can be conducted successfully over the telephone.

7.  What printed material will I receive at the end of the education session?
After the final payment is received, you will receive an e-mail with the client's current medication list with all details listed for safe administration. A separate smaller list will be printed out; this list is suitable for carrying in a wallet or purse.

You will also receive a brief summary sheet for each medication discussed during the session. (See examples below.)
